About CSTI Acoustics

Three decades of making noise behave.

CSTI Acoustics is a boutique acoustical-engineering firm founded in Houston in 1990. We keep the practice small on purpose — so the board-certified engineer who scopes your problem is the same one who measures it, models it, and signs the report.

Who we are

Founded on expertise

CSTI Acoustics — formally Collaboration in Science and Technology, Inc. — was founded in 1990 by Robert D. Bruce and Marcy Bruce. What began as a consultancy grounded in decades of measurement experience has grown into a respected acoustical-engineering practice trusted by industry, design teams, and the courts.

A boutique practice, by design

We stayed deliberately small. A boutique firm means the engineer who scopes your problem is the same one who takes the measurements, runs the analysis, and stands behind the recommendations — no layers, no hand-offs to junior staff. Today the practice is led by Arno S. Bommer, who has carried that standard forward for more than three decades.

From offshore platforms and petrochemical plants to worship spaces, performance halls, and national parks, our work spans the full range of environments where sound has to be understood and controlled. The common thread is rigor: defensible data, sound physics, and conclusions we can defend in a design review or on the witness stand.

Leadership

Arno S. Bommer

Principal & Owner · INCE Board Certified

A board-certified acoustical engineer working in the field since 1982. Arno's practice spans offshore-platform and petrochemical noise control, sound surveys for the National Park Service, and the acoustics of worship and performance spaces. He leads engagements end to end — from field measurement through analysis to practical mitigation — so the same expert owns the problem from first reading to final report.
